Indian Academy of Pediatrics FELLOWSHIP IN PEDIATRIC HEMATO- ONCOLOGY
Introduction to the Division of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology:
The Division provides comprehensive hematology and cancer care for neonates, children and adolescents.
We work closely with several departments including Pediatrics, Pediatric Intensive care, Pediatric Surgery, Immunohematology, Radiotherapy, Pediatric Nephrology and Pain and Palliative care. Being part of a large teaching institution of 2000 beds allows for comprehensive multi-disciplinary
The Division is a leader in medical education having conducted many local and national meetings and workshops for training in Pediatric Hemato-Oncology for doctors and nurses. There are 4 full time Pediatric Hemato-Oncologists with varied areas of sub-specialty interests. There is active participation in research with several ongoing projects, and presentations and publications at National and International meetings. There is excellent collaboration with the St John’s Research Institute.
IAP PHO Fellowship at the Division of PHO St Johns Medical College:
The two year fellowship program is conducted under the auspices of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics- Hematology Oncology chapter. Pediatricians are selected by a formal structured interview. The course has an exit examination conducted by the IAP PHO chapter with certification from the chapter. The fellowship provides the trainee a comprehensive program to develop clinical expertise in the entire spectrum of benign and malignant hematology, and oncology and stem cell transplantation. The fellows will have exposure to outpatient and in-patient management, multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings, tumor boards, case conferences, laboratory meetings and research oriented learning. There will be ample opportunity to take part in teaching of pediatric residents and make presentations at state and national level meetings.
Experience in Hematology/Oncology is desirable but not essential
Stipend: As per SJNAHS scales for fellowship students
