Research - Pulmonary Medicine

We have completed multiple research projects in epidemiology, associations and co-morbidities in sleep disorders, with specific focus on Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and restless legs syndrome (RLS). Research has also been undertaken in bronchiectasis, COPD and TB.

Ongoing research projects include:

Studies on multidimensional profiling and phenotyping OSA and COPD
Sonographic diaphragm assessment in critical illness, COPD and post-operative patients
Thoracic ultrasound in tuberculosis and malignant pleural effusions
Studies on normative data in Cardiopulmonary exercise testing
Qualitative studies in patients with Lung Cancer and those undergoing invasive diagnostic procedures
Multiple studies are ongoing in sleep data mining, studying the disease profile, serum biomarkers and comorbid illnesses in OSA and RLS.

Many of these projects are supported by institutional, national and international research grants.
