The Department of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology is a well-established clinical and academic centre. This Department has been functioning as part of Medical speciality since year 2000 and independently functioning since 2011. It has initiated superspeciality training program. It has 4 consultants and DNB superspeciality senior residents. The major thrust is for comprehensive clinical care- it caters to 16,000 outpatients, 1000 inpatients (general and private beds, intensive care) each year.

The hospital provides advanced laboratory and imaging services required in evaluation of a suspected rheumatologic illness. This setting provides opportunity for a thorough evaluation and discussion with other concerned specialities (nephrology, dermatology, pulmonology, neurology, plastic surgery, obstetrics, physical medicine and rehabilitation) in case of diagnostic or therapeutic challenges cases. In addition, the Department manages paediatric rheumatic disease in In-Patient and Out- Patients basis. Our centre is equipped with Musculoskeletal Ultrasound/ Nail Fold Capillaroscopy for evaluation of early presentation of various diseases and to guide procedures.

The department is one of its kind, it involves the experience and wisdom of senior and junior consultants, superspeciality program, academic programme which stimulates discussion. We provide a unique opportunity for students and researchers to study the various aspects of systemic autoimmune disease. Various academic research are ongoing in areas of lupus, scleroderma, vasculitis and psoriatic arthritis.
