• Histopathology: The laboratory is well equipped with ultramodern equipment, including rapid tissue processors, paraffin embedders, automated microtomes, cryostat, Automated Stainer, and automated Immunohistochemistry which processes more than 13,500 specimens.

Courses offered

MD Pathology:The fundamental goal of the postgraduate program in pathology is to supply a superior training experience in all the disciplines encompassing pathology. The program is designed to provide comprehensive training to the students to become competent Pathologists.

Eligibility: MBBS degree from an institution or university recognized by the National Medical Council of India.

Selection: based on NEET.

Duration :Three years, starting each year in April.

During the training period, the junior residents are posted to work in anatomic Pathology, which includes Surgical Pathology, Cytopathology, and the Autopsy Service, and Clinical Pathology which includes Haemostasis and Thrombosis, Haematology/Hematopathology, Molecular Pathology, and Transfusion Medicine. The Department runs an extensive structured teaching program for the residents,consistingof journal reviews, seminars, slide discussions, teaching sessionsby the faculty, guest lectures and clinicopathological case discussions, etc. The residents are strongly encouraged to take part in a variety of ongoing research activities to explore the structural and molecular basis of human disease to enable better understanding of Pathology.

Postgraduate Certificate Course in Paediatric Pathology: The Department offers a one-year ICP training program in paediatric pathology. This certified course is available to candidates holding a degree in MD (MCI recognized medical college)/DNB Pathology.

The training program is based primarily upon the study and reporting of paediatric surgical specimens and the performance of autopsies. Besides, fellows receive training in paediatric subspecialties like placental pathology, dermatopathology, renal and transplantation pathology, immunopathology, gastrointestinal and liver pathology, Hirschsprung's' disease diagnostics, hematopathology, cytogenetics, and molecular diagnostics. The fellow is encouraged to participation in independent research project. conferences and teaching programmes of the department.

Short term deputation/Observer ship:Observer ship/short term deputation of months is available in various pathology specialties.

PhD: The goalis to develop trained scientists who can take up research ofthe highest order in medical sciences. Candidates having MD in pathology or Diploma in Clinical Pathology, MSc in laboratory technology (3 years course from a medical college) are eligible.
