The Postgraduate AHS Courses offered by St. John’s Medical College (SJMC) are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Karnataka, Bengaluru.The students shall abide by the University guidelines and Institutional policies.

COURSES OFFERED ARE:
1) MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY (M.Sc.MLT)
The course is designed to enable the student to specialize and acquire greater knowledge and understanding in the fields of laboratory sciences and Imaging Technologyin order to function efficiently and effectively. This course also opens up avenues for the student in the areas of Research, Training and Teaching. In addition, it provides a foundation for a doctoral programme.

The M.Sc.MLT course at St.John’s Medical College, Bengaluru, offers 3 sub-specialities-
1. M.Sc.MLT Microbiology & Immunology
2. M.Sc. MLT Clinical Biochemistry
3. M.Sc.MLT Haematology & BloodTransfusion

DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The M.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology is of two years duration affiliated to RGUHS.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:
1. A pass in B.Sc. MLT course from an institution affiliated to RGUHS, or from any other university considered as equivalent by RGUHS.
2. A candidate who has completed B.Sc. in Clinical Biochemistry / Medical Biochemistry ORB.Sc. in Clinical Microbiology / Medical Microbiology are eligible to join M.Sc. MLT in Clinical Biochemistry &M.Sc.MLTin Microbiology & Immunology respectively.
3. Candidates passing B.Sc. MLT through correspondence or distance education shall not be eligible.

2) MASTER OF PHYSIOTHERAPY (MPT)
The learning program includes seminars, journal reviews, case presentations, case discussions and classroom teaching. External clinical postings at other reputed centers in the country are also included in order to offer a wider spectrum of experience. The students are encouraged to attend conferences/workshopsto enhance their knowledge during the course ofstudy. University examinations are held at the end of second year. The students shall abide by the university guidelines and Institutional policies.

DURATION OF THE COURSE:
The Master’s Degree in Physiotherapy is a two-year program consisting of classroom teaching, self-directed learning,academic activities and clinical posting.
In the first-year theoretical basis of physiotherapy is refreshed along with research methodology and biostatistics. The students are rotated in all areas of clinical expertise during this period. They are required to choose their study for dissertation and submit a synopsis. During the second year the students will be posted in their area of specialty. They are required to complete and submit their dissertation.

1. Master of Physiotherapy in Musculoskeletal Disorders and Sports (MPT-MSS)
2. Master of Physiotherapy in Neurological and Psychosomatic Disorders (MPT-NPD)
3. Master of Physiotherapy in Cardio-Respiratory Disorders (MPT-CRD)
4. Master of Physiotherapy in Community Physiotherapy (MPT-CP)
5. Master of Physiotherapy in Paediatrics (MPT-Ped)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:
1. A Pass in B.Sc. (Physiotherapy) or BPT degree from institutions where the mode of study is a full-time program, with minimum 3½ years / 4 ½ years duration from RGUHS or any other university in India or abroad considered as equivalent.
2. Not less than 50% of marks in aggregate.
3. Should have completed 6 months of compulsory rotating internship in Physiotherapy in Colleges recognized by RGUHS – Karnataka.
4. Candidates who have passed BPT through Correspondence or Distance Education program are not eligible.

PLEASE NOTE: The Selection Process for Allied Health Science courses normally involves an Entrance Test and Interview. However, there may be changes this year in the selection process because of the COVID-19 Lockdown related issues.
