From Chromosomes to Clinical Diagnosis: Exploring Cytogenetics & FISH

The Division of Molecular Biology & Genetics, St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, in association with KAHPA, presents a Workshop for Medical Laboratory Professionals on “Diagnostic Applications of Cytogenetics and FISH.”

Scheduled for 3 September 2026, the workshop is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of cytogenetic principles and their applications in modern diagnostic medicine.

The programme combines expert-led theoretical sessions with hands-on practical training, covering peripheral blood karyotyping, chromosome abnormalities, peripheral lymphocyte culture, GTG banding, cancer cytogenetics, Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization (FISH), microscopy and image analysis.

Key Highlights

  • Foundational and advanced knowledge of cytogenetics
  • Hands-on experience in karyotyping and FISH techniques
  • Expert-led sessions integrating theory and practice
  • Clinical applications in cancer diagnosis and genetic disorders
  • Microscopy and image analysis training
