The SMaRT Trial is an intervention study evaluating the effects of a structured progressive resistance exercise and nutritional intervention on muscle health and functional outcomes among women receiving treatment for breast and gynaecological cancers. The study will assess changes in muscle strength, muscle mass, physical function, fatigue, quality of life and treatment-related outcomes, along with relevant biochemical/biomarker assessments. The Project research scientist-I will support participant recruitment, nutritional and physiological assessments, implementation and monitoring of the intervention, follow-up and study documentation.

Salary: 72,800/- pm

Vacancy: One 

• Coordinate research activities across all participating study sites and ensure smooth implementation of the study protocol.

• Identify, screen and recruit eligible participants in coordination with the study team from community and hospital-based settings.

• Coordinate participant visits, intervention administration, follow-up and retention throughout the study period.

• Coordinate and/or perform protocol-specified physiological, anthropometric, body-composition and functional assessments after appropriate training.

• Coordinate collection, processing, storage and documentation of biological samples as per the study SOPs.

• Assist with biochemical and biomarker analyses and coordinate with the laboratory team for timely completion of study investigations.

• Ensure accurate and timely collection, recording and entry of study data in case report forms, electronic databases and other relevant study documents.

• Monitor data quality, identify discrepancies and assist in resolution of data queries.

• Maintain participant records, study files, screening/enrolment logs, intervention records and follow-up documentation.

• Coordinate communication between investigators, participating sites and study personnel and provide regular updates on study progress.

• Assist the Principal Investigator in preparation of progress reports, presentations, abstracts, manuscripts and other study-related documents.

• Ensure confidentiality of participant information and adherence to the approved protocol, institutional requirements and applicable ethical guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications: 

 Ph.D. or Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences / Biomedical Sciences / Clinical Research / Nutrition / Physiology / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Public Health or a related discipline, as per applicable ICMR eligibility guidelines. (PhD candidates’ preference will be given)
