Epidemiology and Biostatistics Fundamentals -Online (EpiBioFunda Online)

Brief:

The Division of Epidemiology and Population Health is running an Online course on Epidemiology and Biostatistics Fundamentals Online (EpiBio Funda Online) in the month of October 2026.     

 

Aim of the Course

This web-based course on ‘ Online course on Epidemiology and Biostatistics Fundamentals Online (EpiBio Funda Online)  ’ can be taken up at one’s own free time and convenience. It provides an opportunity for busy investigators who are unable to otherwise travel to learn and update their grant management skills. 

 

Workshop Objectives

This online  course in Health Research Methods including Epidemiology and Biostatistics has 2 introductory modules and 5 substantive modules. Completion of quizzes at the end of introductory modules is mandatory prior to continuing to the substantive modules.

The course introduces research methods, epidemiological designs, and statistical analyses in relation to health sciences. The course aims to integrate theory and application in epidemiology, clinical medicine, public health, nutrition, and biostatistics.

¨ The course is designed to address each study design using a specific example

¨ The study designs  and associated biostatistical methods will be dealt with together such that the knowledge gap in adopting a statistic to a study design will be addressed

¨ The total duration is about 50 hours

Who should attend

We have a separate 8-day, face-to-face  course called EpiBio, conducted once a year.

This online course however is for those who cannot attend that in-person course but are able to learn Health Research methods remotely.

It is planned for faculty and postgraduate medical/nursing/allied health sciences students, PhD students (in any life sciences), post-doctorates and others associated with health research.

No prior knowledge of research methods or statistics is required.

 

 Dates

The course is open from 1st October  — 15th December 2026.

Last Day for Registration: 30th September 2026

Upon successful completion, all eligible participants of the course will be awarded Course Completion certificate from St. John’s Research Institute, Bangalore.

 

Tuition fee: 

Before 20th Sept 2026: Rs 5,000/- (for students) and Rs 8,000/- (for others) 

After 20th Sept 2026: Rs 7,500/- (for students) and Rs 10,000/- (for others) 

[plus 18% GST applicable on all fees] 

For International participants: $200 (Two hundred US dollars), all inclusive
