Overview

The Department of Nuclear Medicine at St. John's Medical College Hospital was inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of the Diamond Jubilee Celebrations of St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences on 12 August 2023 by His Grace Most Reverend Mar Andrews Thazhath, President of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of India (CBCI), and Mr. Ramalinga Reddy, Honorable Minister of Transport, Government of Karnataka.

The department is dedicated to providing comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services using advanced molecular imaging technologies. It is equipped with the Biograph Horizon PET/CT, a 16-slice CT scanner with FlowMotion® and Multiparametric FlowMotion® technology, and the Intevo 6 SPECT/CT system with a 6-slice CT. These state-of-the-art imaging systems support a broad spectrum of oncological, neurological, cardiological, endocrine, and other specialized nuclear medicine investigations.

In addition to advanced diagnostic imaging, the department offers radionuclide therapy services through two dedicated high-dose isolation therapy wards and a day-care facility for alpha and beta radionuclide therapies, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered treatment.

With a multidisciplinary team of experienced specialists and a commitment to excellence in clinical care, education, and research, the Department of Nuclear Medicine strives to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care while advancing the field of molecular imaging and theranostics.
