Silver Jubilee Celebration of Medicolegal Autopsy Services
The radiant afternoon of the 8th May 2026, saw St. John's Medical College Department of Forensic Medicine marking the 25th anniversary of its Medicolegal Services. The commemorative program began with the prayer. The program went on to welcome its dignitaries. The dignitaries who honoured the program included Rev. Fr. Jesudoss Rajamanickam, director, St. John's National Academy of Health Sciences (SJNAHS), Dr Sanjay Sukumar, Rev. Fr. Tony AJ, Associate Director of Finance, SJNAHS, Rev. Fr. Ajit Kerketta, Associate Director of Hospital and College of Nursing and Rev. Fr. Ajith Menezes, Associate Director of Medical College and Research Institute. Most. Rev. Victor Henry Thakur, Archbishop, Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Raipur presided over the event. Dr S. Venkataraghava, Joint Director, Directorate of Medical Education (DME) were the chief guests at the program.
Soon after the prayer and the official welcome of the dignitaries, Rev. Fr. Jesudoss Rajamanickam delivered his welcome speech. Souvenir book release commemorating the 25th year of the Medicolegal Autopsy Services was one of the mainstream attractions of the anniversary. Dignitaries officially released the book as a crucial part of the program. Dr S. Venkataraghava, one of the chief guests, delivered a speech after the book release. The quotes ‘The least deserves the best’ and ‘The integrity and care even for the deceased’ by Rev. Fr. Jesudoss Rajamanickam hogged the limelight and upheld the significance of care ingrained in St. John’s and its fraternities.
Rev. Fr. Ajith Menezes honoured the chief guests after Dr S. Venkataraghava's speech. Dr Sreemati Rajagopalan was then felicitated by Dr Victor Henry and Prof. Sara Oommen, Chief of Nursing Services. The program went on to witness the felicitation of Dr Thirunavakkurasu by Dr Victor Henry Thakur, one of the chief guests. Dr Victor Henry Thakur revered Dr Thirunavakkurasu's contribution to the realm of Forensic Medicine.
Dr Varghese was also felicitated soon thereafter. Dr Victor Henry Thakur delivered the presidential address after that. Rev. Fr. Jesudoss Rajamanickam, Director, SJNAHS, honoured Fr. Victor Henry Thakur soon thereafter. A Thanksgiving speech marked the formal end to the event.
The program subsequently moved to its academic section. Dr Nandhini Vallabh discussed 'Caring for the Vulnerable, a chapter of paramount importance in modern medicine in the 21st century.
