Exovesicular release of Hedgehog and miRNA packaging
Project Description
We have previously demonstrated that Hedgehog (Hh) proteins are secreted on exovesicles along with cellular miRNAs. Exovesicular-miRNAs, known for the post-transcriptional gene regulation in target cells, might have explicit implications not only during tissue patterning and maintenance but also in disease progression. Several evidences suggest that incorporation of miRNAs in exosomes is not a random process. However, the molecular mechanisms of miRNA-incorporation in exovesicles remain largely unknown. In this project, we are trying to decipher this process using a targeted approach.
