Prospective Urban Rural Epidemiology (PURE) Study
Project Description
The PURE study is a large-scale epidemiological study that has recruited over 160,000 individuals residing in 800 communities from 20 low-, middle-, and high-income countries around the world. Individual data collection includes medical history, lifestyle behaviours (tobacco use, physical activity and dietary profile), blood chemistry, electrocardiogram, and anthropometric measures. In addition, detailed information is collected on 4 environmental domains of interest—the built environment, nutrition and food policy, psychosocial/socioeconomic factors, and tobacco environment. A minimum follow-up of 15 years is planned.
