Urology
One of the earliest Departments of Urology in the state, the independent Department of Urology was formally launched in 1982. Prior to that date, Urology services were being offered by a unit as part of a omnibus surgical services department from 1969. From its very inception the department has been reputed for offering the complete range of surgical services for disorders of the Kidneys, Adrenal glands, Ureters, Urinary bladder, Urethra and the male genital organs (including male infertility).
In 2006, the DNB Urology course was started with postgraduate seats. Subsequently, the M.Ch Urology program was introduced in 2011 with postgraduate seat. The department is currently headed by Dr. A. Mohan and is a recognized postgraduate teaching unit for Urology.
