Dr. Deepak Kamath teaches undergraduate Pharmacology and is a university registered postgraduate (MD Pharmacology) dissertation guide. He also manages the Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) clinical service at St. John's. His research interest lies in cardiovascular (CVD) and metabolic disease prevention and treatment with approaches that include drug repurposing, devices and health systems intervention trials. He has deep experience in the design and conduct of multicenter randomised controlled trials. He has received research grants as Principal or Co-Investigator from the ICMR, India Alliance (DBT-Wellcome Trust) and the UK-MRC. He was selected as a World Heart Federation (WHF) Emerging Leader in 2015 and as an India Alliance Early Career Research Fellow in 2017. He is Co-Principal Investigator on an ongoing large, nationwide, ICMR Centers for Advanced Research (CAR) CVD prevention study.
His published work has an h-index of 11 with 1000+ citations. He has also published 3 textbook chapters dealing with cardiovascular drugs in flagship textbooks.
