Outpatient services

Introduction

  • The Medicine Department has the largest OPD which is located in the ground floor of the main building (OPD Block) of the hospital. Consultants have postgraduate qualification in Internal Medicine (MD/DNB).

Scope

  • The Medicine Outpatient Department is usually the first to assess patients presenting with any complaint or symptom. The OP also receives patients that are stabilized in the emergency Department and referred to Department of medicine for further workup and diagnosis. After being initially evaluated, references to specialty or other departments are made as deemed necessary. The Department of Medicine generally sees infectious diseases, life style diseases, disorders relating to specific systems like endocrine, connective tissue, respiratory, gastroenterology, renal, neurology cardiovascular and multisystem involvement. Patients are referred to the latter specialties which function autonomously, for further evaluation and intervention as required. Services from non-medical disciplines are also taken for patient assessments and treatment.
