Overview
Pulmonary Medicine
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine was established in the year 2000 under the leadership of Prof. George D’Souza. Limited to a single faculty member at inception, the department has currently expanded to include 6 faculty, 6 respiratory technicians and 9 senior residents.
The department was initially offering Respiratory medicine training under the National Board of Examinations – DNB till 2011. Since 2012, we have a DM Pulmonary Medicine program and were one of the first few centers in India to offer this super-speciality training. We have a university affiliated (RGUHS) fellowship program in Sleep Medicine and are one of the mentor sites for International Sleep research Training Program under the World Sleep Society. We also offer a BSc degree in respiratory and sleep technology.
High quality outpatient and inpatient services for patients with respiratory ailments is provided with state-of-the- art diagnostic facilities. The department has bronchoscopy and interventional pulmonology services with sleep laboratory for sleep disorders. Our Sleep Lab is accredited by the Indian Board of Sleep Medicine. The department also has a 6 bedded dedicated Respiratory ICU.
