I am a physician-scientist trained in clinical pathology and molecular medicine, with over twenty years of experience in translational oncology research. My work has primarily focused on understanding the molecular basis of breast cancer in Indian patients, with particular emphasis on hormone receptor signalling, tumour microenvironment interactions, and mechanisms of therapeutic resistance.
I currently lead the Division of Molecular Medicine and coordinate multidisciplinary research programs involving clinicians, pathologists, molecular biologists, and data scientists. A significant part of my work has involved building and maintaining a longitudinal breast cancer cohort with integrated biospecimen repositories, enabling systematic investigation of clinical and molecular determinants of disease in Indian women.
My research has explored several aspects of breast cancer biology, including functional characterisation of estrogen receptor signalling, mechanisms underlying chemoresistance, and the distinct biology of breast cancer in young and postpartum women. More recently, my group has been applying genomic and spatial profiling approaches to understand tumour–immune interactions and their relevance to treatment response.
In parallel, I remain interested in developing cost-effective molecular diagnostic approaches, including liquid biopsy–based assays that could be implemented in routine clinical practice.
